Shamardal sired his 18th individual Group winner on Thanksgiving Day when his four-year-old daughter Oregon Lady burst through the pack to land the G3 My Charmer Handicap by a neck at Calder. A Stakes winner in Canada last time out, she has now won five of her 12 starts with this nine-furlong turf triumph. An improving filly, it is reported that she’ll head to Gulfstream Park for her next start.
Bred by Joan Murphy, Oregon Lady is out of the Gone West mare Oregon Trail. Her dam is a half-sister to Stakes winner and Group-placed sire Mutakddim as well as G1-placed Smooth Charmer.
Shamardal is enjoying yet another excellent season in 2011. Amongst his nine Group winners are Zazou, the G1 Premio Roma scorer, Crackerjack King, winner of five of his six starts including the Derby Italiano and progressive G2-winning miler Sommerabend. He will stand this coming season for a fee of €50,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
