New arrivals for Darley Champions

First foals for Derby winner Authorized and Champion juvenile Teofilo

With the 2009 foaling season getting into full swing, two Darley stallions have recently welcomed the arrival of their first foals.

Two foals were born on 13 January by the Champion three-year-old in Europe, Authorized (pictured). At the National Stud, Hesmond Stud's winning mare Circle of Love foaled her first produce, a bay colt. Described by Brian O'Rourke as a 'nice foal', Circle Of Love is a daughter of Lupe Stakes winner Claxon, who has produced two Stakes winners so far, the G3 scorer Cassydora (who was also second in the G1 Nassau Stakes) and last season's Listed winner Classic Remark. Claxon also has a two-year-old filly this season by Shamardal, named Clarietta and a yearling filly by Dubai Destination.

At Kildangan Stud, Prince Faisal's mare Sharp Mode foaled another bay colt. Described as a decent foal with size and bone, he is a close relation of Juddmonte Farms' great mare Modena, the dam of seven Stakes winners including Elmaamul and Reams Of Verse and family of Zafonic.

Authorized embarks on his second season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €25,000 after covering 40 Group winners or producers in his first year at Dalham Hall, including the G1 winners Wannabe Grand, Zee Zee Top and Cerulean Sky and the dams of eight G1 winners including Soldier Hollow.

A day later, Ennistown Stud welcomed the first foal of unbeaten Champion juvenile Teofilo. The bay colt out of the King's Best mare Miss Dela was described by Ennistown Stud owner Ruairi O'Coileain as a 'very good colt, we are very pleased with him'. Miss Dela, who is a half-sister to Governor Brown and Hataab, will return to Teofilo this season.

He will be standing his second season for €25,000 at Kildangan Stud having covered 43 Group winners or producers in his first book, including the dams of Dubai Millennium, Sixties Icon and Pride.
