The Tracy Collins-trained Arctic maintained a clean sheet in impressive fashion when running out the four-and-a-half-length winner of the G3 Go And Go Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. He is now quoted at odds of 33/1 for next season’s 2000 Guineas.
A first-crop son of Shamardal, the grey colt, who was bred by Darley and races for Richard Pegum, made his winning debut in a Bellewstown maiden on 2 July before stepping up swiftly in class to record a five-length victory in the Listed Grangecon Stud Stakes.
Arctic, who holds entries for the G1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes and G1 Racing Post Trophy, is out of the Shareef Dancer mare Shawanni and is a half-brother to Mystic Man, a son of Cadeaux Genereux who has won 14 races, and to Shanty Star, a regular runner at the Dubai International Racing Carnival.
Shamardal is the sire of 12 individual winners in Europe, inclusing G3 Solario Stakes winner Shakespearean.
