German-bred Shamardal colt Zazou added yet another black-type win to his burgeoning CV on Saturday with victory in the G3 Spreti-Rennen over 2000m at Baden-Baden.
Runner-up in the G1 Deutsches Derby last year, Zazou also triumphed in the G2 Oppenheim Union-Rennen and G3 Preis Dr Busch Memorial that same season. At two, he was third in the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud in France.
Out of the Lomitas mare Zaza Top, Zazou was bred by Gestut Fahrhof and has now taken his earnings to £378,362 from five wins and three places in 14 starts.
Shamardal is also the sire of the dual French Classic winner Lope De Vega and VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume along with fellow Group One winners Casamento and Captain Sonador.
