Shamardal three-year-old French Navy landed the second Group Three victory of his career when winning the Select Stakes at Goodwood over a mile and a furlong.
The colt won his first three races in France last season, including the G3 Prix des Chenes at Longchamp last September, and has only been beaten once in six career starts.
Out of the Woodman mare First Fleet, he was bred by Darley and is a half-brother to the G3 Sovereign Stakes winner Sea Lord, by Cape Cross.
Shamardal, the sire of Group One winners Lope De Vega, Faint Perfume, Casamento and Captain Sonador, is enjoying yet another excellent season in 2011, his representatives including Derby Italiano winner Crackerjack King, Group Three winners Elle Shadow, Dunboyne Express, Zazou and the unbeaten juvenile Amaron.
