Ghaiyyath added a new winner to his cv in scintillating style on Wednesday, 6 November when his daughter Sopran Norma swept to the easiest of victories over seven and a half furlongs in Milan.
Always prominent, Sopran Norma eased clear with just over two furlongs left to run and from then on, the result was never in doubt as she extended her lead in the closing stages to cross the line a staggering 10 lengths ahead of her rivals.
Bred by Mrs Mary Gallagher, Sopran Norma is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Crystal Snowflake, also dam of G2 performer and multiple winner Tetragonal. The mare is herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Augustus Caesar and they from the family of G1 Prix de l’Abbaye heroine Kistena.
First-season sire Ghaiyyath is also responsible for G3 Autumn Stakes runner-up Stanhope Gardens, plus Gethin – allotted the highest rating of any two-year-old debutant this year when breaking his maiden by six lengths.
His second-crop yearlings have sold for up to 500,000 guineas.
Ghiayyath will stand the forthcoming season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €20,000, Oct 1, SLF.a
