New winner for Pinatubo

Leyhaimur victorious at Kempton to become her sire’s eighth individual winner

Pinatubo sired another new winner on Wednesday 7 August when his daughter Leyhaimur came out on top in a competitive six-furlong nursery at Kempton.

Settled towards the rear of the field, the filly showed a great turn of foot and a willing attitude in the home straight to come through her rivals up the inside rail, in the end scoring cosily by half a length.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, she is the fourth foal out of G3 Fred Darling winner Dabyah, who was also placed in the G1 Prix Marcel-Boussac on just her third start. Leyhaimur was sold as a yearling at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 100,000gns.

An exceptional juvenile himself, Pinatubo’s eight individual winners include some exciting types. Unbeaten colt Andesite has multiple Group entries, including the G1 National Stakes at The Curragh, a race in which his sire won by nine lengths. Recent G2 Vintage Stakes second Wolf Of Badenoch is also entered in the race. Diablo Rojo is another unbeaten colt to look forward to after an impressive three-and-a-quarter-length victory on debut.

Pinatubo’s eight winners put him level at this stage with fellow Darley first-season sire and son of Shamardal, Earthlight
