Inisherin, a three-year-old colt from Shamardal’s last crop and a close relative of Dalham Hall Stud resident stallion Triple Time, achieved his first success in G1 company with a superb victory in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot on Friday, 21 June.
Travelling comfortably throughout the six furlong contest, Inisherin picked up smartly inside the final two furlongs, he soon opened up a two-length lead and stormed home in scintillating style for a two and a quarter length win.

Owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Inisherin was the second grandson of blue hen mare Reem Three to win at Royal Ascot this week following the opening day success of Rosallion (Blue Point), who was the brilliant winner of the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes.
Reem Three (Mark Of Esteem) herself is the dam of six Black Type winners, three are Royal Ascot winners including Triple Time who took last year’s G1 Queen Anne Stakes. Her daughters’, Ajman Princess, who won the G1 Prix Jean Romanet, is the dam of Inisherin. She also has a Dubawi two-year-old colt named King Of Cities in training, whilst the unraced-mare Rosaline (New Approach) is responsible for the brilliant Classic-winning colt, Rosallion who is from Blue Point’s first crop.
Triple Time, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud, covered his first book of mares this year.
Blue Point had a hugely successful start to his stud duties last year when he was crowned Champion first season sire, having sired 51 individual winners including two G1 victors (Rosallion and Big Evs). He stands at Kildangan Stud, Co Kildare.
