Too Darn Hot scored a one-two at Southwell on Sunday, 20 August when his juvenile daughters Zenjabeela and Lumiere D’Or finished first and second respectively in a maiden event over seven furlongs.
Zenjabeela, who was a promising third on her debut at Newmarket five weeks ago, built on this experience to break her maiden.
Jumping well from the gates, the Roger Varian-trained filly, was soon settled in third by Ray Dawson. Travelling strongly, Zenjabeela quickened up approaching the final furlong, hitting the front she stretched clear to win unchallenged by an easy four lengths. Lumiere D’Or ran a creditable race to finish second on her first racecourse appearance.
Zenjabeela may next head to Newmarket at the end of September, where she holds an entry for the G2 Rockfel Stakes.
Bred by Essafinaat UK Ltd, Zenjabeela is the fourth foal out of the unraced-mare Sellsabeel (Galileo), who has produced three other winners. Sellsabeel herself is a half-sister to champion three-year-old filly Alpha Centauri, G1 Coronation Stakes heroine, Alpine Star and G1 winning juvenile filly Discoveries.
Too Darn Hot has now sired 11 individual winners, including G3-scorer Fallen Angel, who was the three-length winner of the Sweet Solera Stakes last weekend, Darnation, an impressive ten-length winner, Race The Wind who was fourth in Listed company and Magsood, a two-and-a-half length winner at Beverley on Wednesday.
