Royal Ascot saw some of Blue Point’s finest moments on the racecourse, with a record-breaking G1 sprint treble undoubtedly the highlight of his career.
On Wednesday 21 June, his son Big Evs became the first of his progeny to follow in his footsteps when landing the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes in very convincing fashion.
Breaking very smartly under Jason Hart, Big Evs led the group on the stands side almost from the off as the field split into three. The Mick Appleby-trained colt travelled superbly throughout and once asked for his effort, soon picked up and cruised to the lead, eventually crossing the line three lengths ahead of his nearest rival.
Big Evs had run just once before, when finishing a close second at Redcar.
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Big Evs is out of the Oasis Dream mare Hana Lina, herself a daughter of G1-winning Champion Queen’s Logic. He becomes the fourth winner out of the mare.
Blue Point has made a fantastic start to his stud career, now siring 14 individual winners.
Blue Point’s son Thunder Blue lines up in tomorrow’s G2 Norfolk Stakes, while he has a pair of fillies (Gushing Gold and Snafiya) entered in the G3 Albany Stakes on Friday.
