First season sire Too Darn Hot sired his third winner on Sunday, 18 June, when his two-year-old son Alyanaabi looked like a smart prospect when making a winning debut over seven furlongs at Salisbury.
Tucked in behind the leaders Alyanaabi, although keen in the early stages, soon settled to race in third. Finding a gap on the rail with two furlongs to run, the Owen Burrows trained colt made his challenge, hitting the front in the final furlong he was then driven out by Jim Crowley and went away comfortably to win by a length and a quarter.
From the family of Nashwan and Unfuwain, this well-bred colt is owned and bred by Shadwell Estate Company. He is the second foal out of the unraced Kitten’s Joy mare, Alyamaama, herself a half-sister to G1 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes heroine Ghanaati, G3 victor Mawatheeq and Listed winner Rumoush. They are out of Sarayir, whose dam Height of Fashion was responsible for G1-winning colts Nashwan, Unfuwain and Nayef.
Too Darn Hot, a Champion two and three-year-old colt in Europe, has now sired three winners, including Fallen Angel who was a length and three-quarter winner on debut and Son who was impressive on his second start to score by two and a quarter lengths.
