Blue Point continued his fantastic start at stud when Needlepoint , who is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, recorded an easy victory first time out when winning the Prix de la Reine Blanche at Chantilly in France on Sunday, 18 June.
The debutante filly, who is trained by Amy Murphy, broke well from the gates and was settled in front where she travelled well in the 1100m race. Under Clifford Lee, Needlepoint was asked for an effort 400m out, she soon eased clear of the field and was ridden out to a comfortable two length victory.
Bred in Ireland by Diomed Bloodstock Ltd, Needlepoint was a Goffs Orby Yearling Sale purchase. She is out of the Stakes-winning mare Zenella (Kyllachy) who is the dam of four other winners including Stakes winner, Fox Power.
Blue Point has so far sired thirteen winners from his first crop. His two-year-old son Politico, who was an impressive winner on his second start at the end of May, lines up in Tuesday’s G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
