Both divisions of the six-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Newbury on Wednesday 7 June were landed in style by progeny of two Darley first-season sires, as Rosallion (Blue Point) and Son (Too Darn Hot, pictured) both opened their winning accounts.
Rosallion was making his racecourse debut for Richard Hannon and was always in touch under Sean Levey. Taking the lead a furlong from home, he picked up impressively and ran on well to win by a length and a half.
His trainer indicated after the race that a trip to Royal Ascot could now be on the cards, with the G2 Coventry a likely target.
Rosallion is owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid al Maktoum and becomes the second winner out of Rosaline (New Approach), a half-sister to six Black Type winners including Teofilo’s G1 Prix Jean Romanet heroine Ajman Princess.
Son, also trained by Richard Hannon, had finished a close third on his debut at Ascot last month and had clearly come on for the run, cruising past the post two and a quarter lengths in front of his rivals.
He was bred by Scuderia Blueberry and is out of the multiple Stakes winner Mia Diletta, also dam of Champion Miler Poeta Diletto (Poet’s Voice).
