Blue Point has made a tremendous start to his stud career and on Tuesday 18 April, he sired his third winner overall and second in as many days when Blue Storm was victorious on the opening day of the Craven meeting at Newmarket.
The James Tate-trained colt was settled just behind the early leaders before being asked to quicken two furlongs out. Taking the lead a furlong from home, he was pushed out towards the line and won comfortably by a length and a quarter.
Blue Storm was bred by Highview Bloodstock and is out of the Stakes-winning mare Riskit Fora Biskit (Kodiac). She is now dam of four winners (including one Stakes performer) and is from the same family as Marshman, who became the latest Group winner for Harry Angel on Monday.
Later on Tuesday, there was success in the sales ring for Blue Point when his colt out of Rebecca Rocks went to Stroud Coleman for 360,000 guineas.
Territories was responsible for the highest-priced filly on the first day of the Craven Breeze Up, with his half-sister to last year’s G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Lezoo going to Michael O’Callaghan for 240,000 guineas.
Farhh’s Shamardal half-brother Majestic Pride won the opener at Newmarket yesterday and later at Tattersalls, Blandford Bloodstock and Joseph O’Brien went to 235,000gns to secure his colt out of Souila.
