Having been a first-season sire sensation last year, Profitable is now establishing himself as one of Europe’s best up and coming speed stallions.
He is the only stallion to sire more than one three-year-old sprint Group winner in Europe in 2022, with Miramar and Mitbaahy prevailing in the Prix Sigy and World Trophy respectively. They are among 10 Black Type performers to date for Profitable, who has no fewer than 21 three-year-old winners at 1,250m or less – a figure that can only be betted by Kodiac.
Profitable’s second crop are starting to shine, too. They are led by G2 winner Wed, but he is also sire of a very promising pair of sprinters in Batal Dubai and Kerdos, rated 95 and 90p by Timeform respectively.
So far, he has 17 two-year-old winners from his latest crop, putting him right up there with the best of this year’s second-season sires.
Little surprise then that Profitable’s 2022 yearlings were in huge demand at the sales. Across Tattersalls Books 1 and 2, his average was over 10 times his fee with top prices of 150,000 and 105,000 guineas.
There’s more yet to come: Profitable covered 116 mares this year and has a current foal crop of over 100.
With success on the racecourse, in the ring and some big books coming through, there’s every reason to believe that Profitable will continue to rise up the ranks and become a truly top-class speed sire.
