Godolphin-homebred National Dance secured a first Stakes win with a striking victory in the Listed Prix Caravelle at Toulouse on Sunday, 24 April. Tracking the early leader, the three-year-old daughter of Dubawi pulled clear in the final furlong to win stylishly by four and a half lengths under Mickael Barzalona.
National Dance is the first foal out of New Approach’s G2 Prix de Mallerat victrix Strathspey, an own-sister to the Stakes-performing Romance Story. They are out of a winning Shamardal half-sister to G3w Claremont with National Dance’s third dam G1 Prix Vermeille heroine Mezzo Soprano.
National Dance is the 16th Stakes winner this season for her record-breaking sire Dubawi, who just yesterday sired the winner of the Listed Salsabil Stakes in the regally-bred Concert Hall. Among Dubawi’s 48 individual G1 winners is the John Gosden-trained Lord North who defended his G1 Dubai Turf crown last month in a thrilling finish at Meydan.
