Belardo and Buratino are both enjoying a fruitful year with their first runners and on Thursday, 1 October each young sire added a new winner to his record with successful racecourse debutants at Salisbury.
Belardo (pictured), who recorded a Group-race double last week and has made a better start at stud of all the stallions in his sire line, was first off the mark on the day when his son Belloccio came with a superb late run to land the one-mile novice.
Belloccio was bred in France by Ulf Sjoberg and is out of Three Cards (Mastercraftsman), herself a half-sister to two Black Type winners including Bathyrhon, successful at G2 level and placed in the G1 Prix du Cadran.
Later on the same card, Autumn Twilight (Buratino) also won at the first time of asking when taking the seven-furlong novice.
Like Belloccio, Autumn Twilight is trained by David Menuisier and having taken the lead two furlongs from home, kept to his task well to deny the short-priced favourite Ensyaaby by a head.
Autumn Twilight was bred by Kildaragh Stud and is out of the multiple winner Mujadil Shadow, also dam of Group-winning duo Titus Shadow and Orpen Shadow, plus multiple Stakes winner Choisir Shadow.
