Bellabel, a three-year-old daughter of Belardo, landed her first Graded success on the her first attempt on Saturday, 24 July, with an impressive victory at Del Mar. Running in the G2 San Clemente Stakes over a mile, she had to wait for a gap in the straight but when in the clear, she burst clear to record an easy two length victory.
Originally trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington, Bellabel in unbeaten in the US having won the Listed Blue Norther Stakes on her last start at Santa Anita back in January.
Bred by Fergus Cousins, Bellabel is a daughter of the winning Cape Cross mare Fashion Line, who is herself a granddaughter of the Irish Classic-placed mare Warning Shadows.
Belardo has now sired five Group-winning fillies, adding to G2 heroine Isabella Giles, G3 Prix Miesque winner Lullaby Moon, multiple Irish Stakes winner Elysium and 2022 Australian G3 winner Verona.
