Shamardal’s consistent daughter Tarnawa won her third Group race on Sunday, 15 September when landing the G2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh. Coming into the race on the back of a victory in the G3 Give Thanks Stakes, she was always travelling well and showing a excellent change of pace, quickened clear to win easily by a length and a half.
Now the winner of four of her nine starts, her next intended target is the G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot.
Owned and bred by The Aga Khan, Tarnawa is the first foal of the Stakes-winning Cape Cross mare Tarana, who herself is a daughter of the Listed Galtres Stakes heroine Tarakala.
Shamardal has been enjoying a tremendous season in Europe with Tarnawa one of 13 Stakes winners, a figure only bettered by Galileo and Dubawi. Amongst his three G1 winners are the superstar sprinter Blue Point and the unbeaten Prix Morny hero Earthlight.
