Night Of Thunder sired a new winner on Monday, 3 June when Sun Power ran out the easy victor of the six-furlong Novice at Wolverhampton.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt was settled in third under Silvestre de Sousa before being angled out wide approaching the bend. Sun Power then quickened well once asked and taking the lead a furlong from home, eventually won by two lengths.
Sun Power was bred by Seven Hills Bloodstock and is out of the multiple winner Sparkling Smile (Cape Cross), a half-sister to the dam of multiple G1 winner Covert Love. Sparkling Smile is now dam of three winners from three foals to race. She enjoyed success with another young Darley sire in 2018 through Al Fajir Mukbile, a first-crop winner for Dawn Approach at Newmarket last October.
Night Of Thunder has now sired three winners including impressive Ascot winner Expressionist, who could head back to the Berkshire track in a fortnight’s time for the Coventry.
Wild Thunder is another exciting prospect for his sire. He, like Sun Power, is prepared by Night Of Thunder’s former trainer Richard Hannon.
