First foal for Profitable

Filly by the star sprinter arrives in Ireland

The first reported foal by G1 King’s Stand Stakes winner and the best sprinting son of Invincible Spirit, Profitable, was born last week in Ireland.

Appropriately, she was bred by Profitable’s own breeder Con Harrington and is out of the multiple winner Roxelana. The mare is a daughter of Falmouth Stakes winner Macadamia, making her a half-sister to Lovely Pass (Raven’s Pass), who landed the UAE 1,000 Guineas back in 2013.

John Walsh, bloodstock agent for Con Harrington, was clearly happy with the new arrival, saying, “We are delighted with the filly.

“She is a good size with a lot of presence like her sire.”

Profitable dominated the sprint rankings through the spring of 2016, with victories in the G3 Palace House Stakes and the G2 Temple Stakes before defeating an international field in the G1 King’s Stand at Royal Ascot. He then chased home Lady Aurelia at Ascot the following year, plus Battaash in the King George Stakes at Goodwood before running an excellent race in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Chantilly on his last start.

He was extremely popular during his first season at Kildangan Stud, covering 179 mares.

Profitable will stand the forthcoming season at a fee of €12,000, Oct 1, SLF.
