Teofilo has been enjoying an excellent run of late and on Saturday, 11 August he sired a new Group winner when his son Teodoro impressed in the G3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes. Sent straight to the front by Richard Kingscote, he set a good pace before going clear at the top of the straight before showing great tenacity to record a three-and-a-quarter length triumph.
Bred by John Connaughton and bought for €68,000 at Tattersalls Ireland by current connections, Teodoro is a half-brother to two Stakes performers including US Listed winner September Stars. His dam, the Rock Of Gibraltar mare Altesse Imperiale, is a half-sister to US G1-winner Angara.
It has been an exceptional month already for Teofilo after he sired Goodwood record-breaking G3-winner Cross Counter last Saturday as well as the first two home in the Listed Chalice Stakes (Crimson Rosette and Alwaysandforever) on the same day at Newmarket. On Wednesday his four-year-old daughter Eziyra made a perfect winning seasonal re-appearance when impressing when landing the G3 Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown.
