A strong week of trading during the Tattersalls December Foal Sale continued on Friday, 1 December and it was Dubawi to the fore as his sole offering topped the sale at 750,000 guineas – becoming the fourth highest-priced foal in the history of the sale.
Presented for sale by Willie Carson’s Minster Stud, the filly is out of Swain’s Gold, making her a half-sister to Halling’s multiple G1 winner Jack Hobbs. She was bought by John Gosden.
Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
Swain’s Gold is currently in foal to Golden Horn, whose first offspring have been going through the ring in recent weeks and certainly didn’t disappoint this week. Six foals by the outstanding Derby and Arc winner found new homes, averaging a very healthy 203,000 guineas.
Golden Horn’s top price of the sale was 325,000 guineas, given by Godolphin for Deerpark Stud’s colt out of Elegant Shadow – a granddaughter of the great racemare and producer Elle Danzig.
Also reaching the 300,000-guinea mark was a colt out of Mia Diletta – also dam of Poet’s Voice’s Italian Classic winner Poeta Diletto and Stakes-placed Exceed And Excel filly Mia Eccellenza. He was offered for sale by Old Buckenham Stud.
Golden Horn stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £60,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
The first foals by Night Of Thunder have also been on offer this week and he recorded a top price of 200,000 guineas, given by Jamie Railton for his colt out of multiple winner Travel, a half-sister to the ill-fated but hugely talented Eight Belles.
Later in the sale, the Petches Farm-consigned filly out of the Group-placed mare Devotion was bought by Godolphin for 120,000 guineas.
Night Of Thunder will stand in the UK for the first time in 2018, at a fee of £15,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
From today (Saturday) until Thursday, 7 December, 15 of the European Darley stallions (including all three mentioned above) will be on show at Dalham Hall Stud. Stallions will be paraded at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm each day and no appointment is necessary.
