Dubawi recorded a new juvenile Group winner on Thursday, 7 September when his progressive daughter Anna Nerium swept home to land the G3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes, run over six furlongs at Salisbury.
Settled in mid-division under Tom Marquand, the Richard Hannon-trained filly was ridden along three furlongs from home and weaving between horses, kept on superbly to get up just before the line and win by a neck. This was her second straight win, having broken her maiden on 29 July at Newmarket’s July course.
Anna Nerium was bred by Stowell Hill Ltd and is one of five Black type performers out of Anna Oleanda (Old Vic), also dam of G3 winner and Oaks d’Italia second Middle Club and Anna Nerium’s full brother Piping Rock, who won the G3 Horris Hill Stakes as a juvenile.
Dubawi has now sired 20 Black Type winners so far this year, including no fewer than four G1 winners in Almanaar (Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap), Nezwaah (Pretty Polly Stakes), Sobetsu (Prix Saint-Alary) and Zarak (Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud). He is also sire of eight individual horses who have made the frame at the highest level in 2017.
