First-season sire Epaulette sired a new winner on Saturday 17 June when his son International Man obliged at the first time of asking. The Richard Fahey-trained colt was always travelling smoothly in the fast-run contest, and when asked for his effort a furlong from home, he quickened clear to win by one-and-a-half lengths.
Bred by Bearstone Stud and sold to current connections for 72,000gns as a yearling, he is a son of the Stakes-placed juvenile Right Answer (Lujain) and from the family of the very quick Mind Games.
Epaulette, also sire of French winner Fas le Fios and debutant Ayr scorer Chookie Dunedin, won the Black Opal Stakes and was second in the G2 Todman Slipper Trial at two. He went on to take the G1 Golden Rose in record time and the G1 Doomben 10,000, finding only Black Caviar too good in the G1 T J Smith.
