A determined performance by Khulaasa to win the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, 17 March provided her sire Epaulette with his second Stakes winner and earned the two-year-old filly an appearance at the Sydney autumn carnival.
Khulaasa had shown promise when placed on her previous two starts and her defeat of Krone, a previous Stakes winner, confirmed that she is certainly one to look out for in the future. Trainer David Hayes is now aiming her at the G2 Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, 14 April.
A homebred for Shadwell Australia, Khulaasa is a daughter of the Stakes-winning General Nediym mare Taamer, who has now produced three winners, while her own dam Pedante (Danehill) has a remarkable 12 winners from 12 foals to race.
Epaulette is also sired of fellow Group winner Meryl, plus a further six Black Type performers.
He stands at Kildanagan Stud in Ireland at a fee of €7,000, October 1, Special Live Foal.
