Less than an hour after Ribchester had given Iffraaj a G1 success at Deauville, his four-year-old daughter Mehronissa gained a valuable Stakes victory at Pontefract. An improving filly, she has climbed through the handicap grades, beginning her winning streak off only 77 before coming in today’s contest off the back of a win at Newmarket off 93.
The Carmel Stud bred filly, who cost 65,000Gns as a yearling, has now won half of her 12 career starts. Out of the Beau Genius mare Miss University, she is a half-sister to Singspiel’s North American G2 heroine Three Degrees.
Mehronissa is the 16th Stakes performer sired by Iffraaj this season. Other than his top-flight performers Ribchester, Nathra and Turn Me Loose, he also has the Royal Ascot G2 filly The Black Princess and G3 sprinter Jungle Cat.
