Three-year-old Shamardal colt Doha Dream recorded his first Stakes win in convincing fashion on 4 July, landing the Listed Derby de l’Ouest at Nantes in France.
Doha Dream won the 12-furlong contest by four lengths to add a third career win to his record. Andre Fabre’s charge broke his maiden (also winning by four lengths) back in March at Fontainebleu before winning at Saint-Cloud next time out. He was second in the Listed Coupe des Trois Ans on his most recent start, beaten just half a length.
Bred by Ecurie Haras Bouquetot Sas, Doha Dream is out of the King’s Best mare Crystal Reef, a half-sister to G1 winner Reefscape and Halling’s multiple Group winner Coastal Path. They are from the family of Dubawi’s G1-winning son New Bay and Oasis Dream.
Shamardal has now sired 13 individual Stakes winners so far this year, headed by G1-winning duo Tryster and Dariyan, plus the hugely talented Usherette – last seen winning the G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
