New Approach three-year-old colt Charlevoix won his first Stakes race at just his fourth start in the Listed Galilee Series Final (2400m) on the Sandown Park Hillside track on April 9.
Trained by Mick Kent and ridden by Luke Nolen, the lightly raced three-year-old settled well back in the field before producing a strong finish out wide on the track to win the Galilee Series Final by an impressive two-and-a-quarter lengths.
A winner of a 1400m maiden on the same track on debut in February, Charlevoix finished fourth behind Street Cry three-year-old Tally and Teofilo colt Palentino in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes over 2040m at his most recent start.
A homebred for E Sullivan, Charlevoix is out of Red Ransom mare Boracay, who has had three foals to race for two winners, and is from the family of multiple Group winner Beachside and G1 winner Librici. Boracay has also produced a yearling colt and a weanling colt, both by Helmet.
The sire of 26 Stakes winners and four G1 winners including champion Dawn Approach and Oaks heroine Talent, New Approach stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £60,000 October 1st SLF.
