1-2 for the Darley sires in the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano
New Bay, who became the 18th G1 winner for Dubawi when storming to victory in the Prix du Jockey Club at the end of May, added another Group win to his record in equally impressive style on 15 August when taking the G2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville.
Settled beautifully in second behind his pacemaker Countermeasure, Andre Fabre’s charge took up the running once entering the home straight and despite a strong challenge from Dariyan (Shamardal), New Bay ran on superbly to win by two lengths.
A Juddmonte Farms homebred, New Bay is out of the Stakes-winning mare Cinnamon Bay, a half-sister to multiple Group winner Bellamy Cay. They are from the family of G1 winners Wemyss Bight, Oasis Dream, and Beat Hollow.
Dubawi’s other G1 winners include Dubai World Cup winners Prince Bishop and Monterosso, Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Poet's Voice, and 2,000 Guineas winners Makfi and Night Of Thunder. This year alone he has sired nine winners at the highest level, including King George victor Postponed, plus another French superstar in Grand Prix de Paris winner Erupt.
