Victory for Srikandi
Having won six of her eight previous starts, four-year-old Dubawi mare Srikandi was sent off as a strong favourite to take the G2 Victory Stakes at the Gold Coast on 25 April, and certainly didn't disappoint as she took the six-furlong contest by a length.
Coming into the race off the back of a third in the G1 Stradbroke Handicap last year off, she was settled in third position. Switching to the outside as the field rounded the home turn, a she chased down the early leader, with her paternal half-brother Ball Of Muscle close behind, before asserting her superiority to claim her fourth Stakes race.
Bred by Mr J. Collins, Srikandi is out of the Hurricane Sky mare Raining, herself a half-sister to the dam of Listed winner Portofino Bay.
Dubaw has sired 21 Stakes performers already this year including G1 winners Prince Bishop, Hunter’s Light and ShamalWind, plus Group winners Catkins, SafetyCheck, AmberOrchid and Kentucky Derby aspirant Mubtaahij. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £125,000 October 1st SLF.
