Second G1 victory for Rizeena
Iffraaj's top-class juvenile Rizeena landed her second G1 contest on Friday June 20 when taking the Coronation Stakes in style. The winner of the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at this meeting last season, she was always close to a slow early pace and quickening well in straight had enough to hold off the fast-finishing French raider Lesstalk In Paris (Cape Cross). Rizeena has now won four Stakes races with her Royal Ascot triumphs adding to her G1 juvenile win in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh and the Listed National Stakes success at Sandown.
Bred by Roundhill Stud and bought as a yearling by Rabbah Bloodstock for 50,000Gns, Rizeena is out of the winning mare Serena's Storm, a half-sister to Shamardal's multiple G2-winner Puissance de Lune and from the family of Champion Serena's Song. Serena's Storm also has a colt foal by Champion Sprinter Sepoy and has been tested back in foal again to Iffraaj this season.
Rizeena is one of five Stakes winners to come from Iffraaj's impressive fourth crop. He also has multiple G1-winning juvenile filly Chriselliam, Europe's leading three-year-old Sprinter Hot Streak, who ran well to finish third in the G1 King's Stand Stakes earlier this week, German G3-winning colt Magic Artsit and impressive Stakes winner Prince Of All. His fifth crop, who are from his best ever book of mares, are currently juveniles and already numbers five impressive winners including Jungle Cat, who ran third in the G2 Coventry Stakes on Tuesday.
