Shamardal mare back to her best
G1-winning Shamardal mare Maybe Discreet returned to her brilliant best with an all-the-way win in the Listed City of Adelaide Handicap over 7f at Morphettville, Australia, April 12.
Having failed to fire in four starts since her victory in the G1 Australasian Oaks in April last year, Maybe Discreet relished the drop in class to score a dominant victory.
A homebred for David Peacock, Maybe Discreet is out of the Listed-placed Bluebird mare Oh So Discreet, a half-sister to no less than five Stakes winners including G3 winners Be Discreet, She’s Discreet and Gilded Angel. Including Maybe Discreet, Oh So Discreet has had six foals to race for six winners including Stakes winning Exceed And Excel mare Just Discreet.
Maybe Discreet becomes the ninth Stakes winner in 2014 for Shamardal who is standing at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 alongside his G1-winning juvenile son Casamento who stands at €5,000.
