Fifth Stakes win for G1 winner Amaron
Shamardal’s G1-winning son Amaron ensured he has recorded a victory at Black type level every season he has raced, winning the G3 Prix Perth, run over a mile at Saint-Cloud on 1 November. His paternal half-brother Sommerabend finished second to provide their sire with a 1-2 in the race.
Stalking the early pace, Amaron moved to the front as the field turned for home and from then on, the winner was always going to be son of Shamardal as he and Sommeraband battled it out in the final furlongs, with Amaron eventually prevailing by three quarters of a length.
This was his fifth Stake win and fourth at Group level. He was the winner of the G1 Premio Vittorio Di Capua last year.
Bred by Genesis Green Stud, Amaron is out of the Bertolini mare Amandalini, a half-sister to G1 colt Persian Lux.
Shamardal has now sired 16 individual Stakes winners this year, including G1 winners Dunboyne Express and Maybe Discreet, plus G2 winner Mukhadram – who finished the narrowest of seconds in the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at this year’s Royal Ascot.
His fee for 2014 is €50,000 October 1st Special live foal.
