Back to back Stakes wins for Maybe Discreet

A last start winner at Listed level over a mile in the Morphettville Guineas, talented Adelaide-based Shamardal filly Maybe Discreet produced an extremely gutsy effort to hold off the late charge of Members Joy to win the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes over a mile at Flemington, Australia on 6 October.

Settling in second position throughout, as the challenges came rounding the home turn, the filly really knuckled down and toughed it out right to the line, setting herself up as one of the favoured runners for the G1 Thousand Guineas in ten days time to be run at Caulfield.

Bred by Mr David Peacock, Maybe Discreet is out of the Stakes placed Bluebird mare Oh So Discreet, a half-sister to G3 winner She’s Discreet, who is in turn the dam of Stakes winners Very Discreet (Exceed And Excel) and I’m Discreet (Elusive Quality). Oh So Discreet has a yearling colt by Commands and is due to foal to Lonhro this season.

The sire of eight G1 winners including recent Premio Vittorio di Capua winner Amaron, as well as dual G1 winners Faint Perfume and Lope De Vega, Shamardal is the sire of 42 international Stakes winners.
