Sharestan records his second consecutive Stakes win
Sharestan, a four-year-old son of Shamardal, has been a model of consistency for his sire having been placed in all seven of his starts. On 30 June, he earned his second Black type win when running out the easy winner of the one-mile Listed Celebration Stakes on Irish Derby day at The Curragh.
Settled just off the pace under Johnny Murtagh, Sharestan soon moved clear once taking up the running and was never troubled, easing to a three-and-three-quarter-length victory.
This was the fourth career victory for John Oxx’s charge, who won the ten-furlong Listed Silver Stakes earlier this month. He was also third in the G3 Mooresbridge Stakes on 7 May.
Owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan, Sharestan is out of the winning mare Sharesha who is also dam of G3 winner Shareen.
Shamardal has sired eight individual Black type winners so far this year, including G1-winning duo Sagawara and Crackerjack King (who lines up for the Eclipse next weekend).
