Iffraaj three-year-old gelding Who Dat Singa showed he was capable of a sustained sprint with an impressive in the Listed Melvista Stakes over 2200m in Australia at Ascot on April 2.
Recording his first win at Stakes level, Who Dat Singa tracked a slow early tempo before taking off early to grab a break on his rivals to win the Melvista Stakes by one and three-quarter lengths for jockey Patrick Carbery and trainer Alan Mathews.
A homebred for L Erceg, Who Dat Singa is out of an unraced Danasinga mare Singdablues, who has produced two foals to race for two winners. From the family of Group winner The Hombre, Who Dat Singa, who has now won five races from 10 starts, is Singdablues’ first Stakes winner.
Iffraaj has now sired 35 Stakes winners including last year’s G2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Ribchester, fellow G2 winner Serena Miss and G1 performers Nathra, Magic Artist, Latharnach and Sardaaj.
