Already touted as a contender for the G1 Commonwealth Cup after her first Group success last month, Night Of Thunder filly Suesa confirmed her position as one of France’s leading three-year-olds on Monday, 17 May with a facile win in the G3 Prix Texanita.
Settled in second position under Olivier Peslier, the three-year-old was always travelling smoothly and shaken up a furlong and a half from home, soon moved clear and eventually won the six-furlong contest by three lengths.
Now unbeaten in four starts including last month’s G3 Prix Sigy, Suesa is one of the leading fancies for next month’s G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
Bred by Thomastown Farm, Suesa is out of the unraced Orpen mare Sally Is The Boss and is from the extended family of Brocade (dam of Barathea and Gossamer).
Night Of Thunder is sire of 19 worldwide Black Type winners to date, including last year’s Dante and Jersey Stakes victors. His 14 Group or Listed winners from his first crop cannot be better by any other stallion since the Pattern began.
