Krakarib showcased his potential and provided Ribchester with his sixth Stakes-race winner when he won the G3 Darley Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington in Melbourne on Tuesday, 1 November.
Having his second race start, Krakarib showed brilliant speed under jockey Damien Thornton to lead down the straight 1,000m course and then great fight to hold off Little Bros by three-quarters of a length, with a similar margin to Awestruck in third place.
The first foal out of Australian mare Skagerrak, Krakarib was purchased privately by trainer Simon Zahra who intends to spell the colt and set him for feature races in the autumn.
A four-time G1 winner, Ribchester won six races and ran eight placings from just 16 starts.
