Tryster has been a wonderful flag bearer for his sire Shamardal and on 5 March, he became the 16th G1 winner for his sire when sweeping down the Meydan straight to take the nine-furlong Jebel Hatta.
Settled in his customary position at the rear of the field under William Buick, Tryster set sail for home once entering the straight and demonstrating his electric turn of foot, flew past his rivals to win by two lengths.
The Godolphin runner, who is trained by Charlie Appleby, was winner of both the G3 Winter Derby and the valuable Easter Classic last year will now head for the Dubai Turf on Dubai World Cup night, where he will take on star miler Solow (who is by late Darley stallion Singspiel).
He was bred in Ireland by Herbertstown Stud and is out of the Stakes-placed Riverman mare Min Alhawa, herself a half-sister to G1 1,000 Guineas winner Harayir.
Tryster was one of no fewer than 30 Stakes winners in 2015 for Shamardal, also is sire of last year’s Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Lumiere and Hong Kong superstar Able Friend.
