Tiego The First successful in Listed Prix Roland de Chambure

First Stakes win for son of Blue Point

Tiego The First, a juvenile son of Blue Point, confirmed the promise of his debut when he made a successful progression into Stakes company, on only his third start, to win the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Deauville, France on Sunday, 7 July.

Racing over 1400m for the first time, Tiego The First, who is trained by Pia and Joakim Brandt, travelled strongly in midfield, manouvered out to get a clear run at the 350m mark by Mickael Barzalona, the colt quickened up well inside the final stages to snatch victory by a short head in the closing strides.

Bred by SARL Ecurie Jean Louis Bouchard, Tiego The First is a €170,000 Arqana Deauville October Yearling purchase. He is a son of the Stakes-placed mare, Kotama (Siyouni), herself a half-sister to Stakes performers, Kokaltash and Kozideh.

Earlier in the day Blue Point’s two-year-old daughter, Epson Blue Cen, made an impressive debut to win by a length and a quarter in the Prix de Lisieux, a race for newcomers. This exciting filly holds an entry for the G1 Prix Morny.

Blue Point, who was Champion first season sire last year, is having another successful season with 12 Black Type performers already. They are headed by his brilliant son Rosallion, who is now the winner of three G1 races, including the Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes.
