Three winners for Blue Point

Rosallion too good in Listed Pat Eddery Stakes; Blue Prince wins maiden at York

Blue Point’s fantastic start at stud continued when he sired three winners on Saturday, 29 July. They were headed by a new Stakes winner when Rosallion stormed to a four-length victory over seven furlongs in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot and included Shin Jidai who scored on debut at Newcastle and an impressive maiden win for Blue Prince at York.

Trained by Richard Hannon, Rosallion was stepping up in class on only his second start after making a winning debut at Newbury in June. Settled nicely towards the rear of the field by Sean Levey, he began to pick up with two furlongs to run and hit the front entering the final furlong where he stretched clear of the field to remain unbeaten.

Rosallion holds entries for the G1 National Stakes at the Curragh and the G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Rosallion is out of the unraced New Approach mare Rosaline, herself a half-sister to G1 Queen Anne Stakes victor Triple Time, Champion older mare Ajman Princess and G2 winner Ostilio.

Earlier at York, Blue Prince, who has been placed twice in three starts, built on this experience to shed his maiden tag with an impressive four-and-three quarter length win.  The Richard Fahey-trained two-year-old travelled well throughout, he made his challenge on the stands side rail and led entering the final furlong before extending away from the rest of the field in the six-furlong contest.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, Blue Prince is out of the three-time winning mare Zip Along (Iffraaj).  She also has a filly foal at foot by Blue Point.

Blue Point is enjoying an excellent start to his new career at stud. He has so far sired 23 individual winners, three of which are Black Type winners including Royal Ascot Albany Stakes victor Big Evs and Rose Bowl Stakes hero Action Point.
