Teofilo’s dual G1-winning son Palentino flew home to take out the G2 Blamey Stakes at Flemington on 18 March. Adding a fourth Stakes victory to his outstanding record, the talented four-year-old remains on track for the G1 Doncaster Mile.
Ridden by jockey Mark Zahra for trainer Darren Weir, Palentino jumped well and travelled comfortably behind the two race leaders. Showing a devastating burst of speed in the straight, he raced away to secure a dominant three-and-a-half length victory.
Bred by Jenny Watson of the Macleay Thoroughbred Stud, Palentino was purchased for $85,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale. He is out of the Palace Music mare Palatine Hill who is from the family of Stakes winners Sublimity and Rather Grand.
Teofilo has had an outstanding week, siring three Group winners including yesterday’s G3 winner Happy Clapper and G1 Australian Cup Hero Humidor. Palentino is one of 62 individual Stakes winners for his sire, including top performers Kermadec, Special Fighter and Quest For More.
