Successful spell continues for Night Of Thunder

Promising sprinter Electric Storm adds a first Stakes win to her record in style at Haydock

Night Of Thunder is currently enjoying a tremendous run of success, siring the runaway Dante winner, Economics, and the winner of Ireland’s first juvenile Group race in Fairy Godmother last weekend. On Friday, 24 May he added a new Black Type winner to his record when Electric Storm took the Listed Cecil Frail Stakes, run over six furlongs at Haydock.

The James Tate-trained filly was always travelling well under Danny Tudhope and taking the lead a furlong from home, kicked on superbly to win by a length. This was her third victory in four starts, with her only defeat being a close second in the Listed Lansdown Stakes at Bath last month. She holds entries in both G1 sprint contests at Royal Ascot, plus the G1 July Cup.

Electric Storm was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and is out of the Bated Breath mare Ancestral, herself a half-sister to G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Quiff. Her granddam is G1 1,000 Guineas winner Wince.

Night Of Thunder tops the worldwide prize money table this year for European-bred two and three-year-olds, while his tally of four Group winners can be bettered only by his sire Dubawi, who is on five.

Night Of Thunder stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €100,000, Oct 1, SLF.
