The four-day Tattersalls December Foal Sale concluded yesterday and saw another successful sale for the Darley stallions as Dubawi and Shamardal were prominent in the top lots overall, while Slade Power’s first foals continued to make a good impression with buyers.
Airlie Stud’s well-bred son of Dubawi and Snowgal (from the family of G1 winner Preseli) was bought by Jamie McCalmont for 500,000 guineas on Friday to become the highest-priced colt sold on the day, capping a remarkable year in the ring for his sire.
Also on Friday, John Ferguson went to 325,000 guineas to secure Kenilworth House Stud’s cracking Shamardal colt out of G1 winner La Collina.
The first foals by Champion Sprinter Slade Power have been receiving rave reviews and he posted a top price of 150,000 guineas for his colt out of Silk Trail, herself a daughter of G1 winner Satin Flower. Consigned by Norelands Stud, he was bought by Glenvale Stud.
Slade Power was also responsible for a 78,000 guineas colt out of Electra Star (Shamardal), who was bought by Good Will Bloodstock.
The sales action at Tattersalls continues with the December Mare Sale tomorrow, while breeders are invited to Dalham Hall Stud each day from Monday to Thursday to view 15 of the European stallion roster.
