Siskany took the lead at the top of the stretch and turned back the late challenge from The Grey Wizard to win the G2 Belmont Gold Cup by two lengths at Belmont Park on Friday, 9 June.
The five-year-old Dubawi gelding, who won the G3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy at Meydan earlier this year, provided his sire with his second Graded Stakes winner of the afternoon, after In Italian took the G1 Just a Game Stakes earlier on the race card.
Breaking alertly under regular rider William Buick, the Godolphin homebred was settled off the early pace in fifth as he saved ground along the inside rail during the early stages of the two-mile turf marathon. After switching Siskany to the outside heading into the far turn, Buick asked his mount for a bit more at the top of the lane. Siskany quickly reeled in Amazing Grace and set sail for home, easily turning back a bid from The Grey Wizard to win easily.
Siskany was bred in England and is out of the unraced Dansili mare Halay, a half-sister to dual G2-winners Dartmouth and Manatee. Halay is also a half-sister to Stakes winner Gaterie (Dubai Destination), dam of multiple Stakes winner Warren Point (Dubawi), who will contest the G1 Manhattan on Saturday at Belmont Park.
Champion Dubawi has now sired 21 Stakes winners and three G1 winners in 2023 including leading miler and future Darley stallion Modern Games, two-time G1 winner In Italian and Lord North, winner of the G1 Dubai Turf.
