Darley stallion Singspiel struck twice on Thursday night at Nad Al Sheba when his sons Eastern Anthem and Clasp ran out convincing winners.
Coming with his customary late run, Eastern Anthem cut down Crime Scene (by fellow Darley stallion Royal Applause) in the shadow of the post to score cosily by a-quarter-of-a-length in the one-and-a-half-mile Handicap.
This was his second successive victory for the Darley-bred colt after a facile victory two weeks previous, a performance that earned him a Timeform rating of 123. Talked of as a Derby prospect in his youth, he is now fulfilling the potential he showed when trained by Godolphin.
One race earlier on the card the Doug Watson trained Clasp ran out a very impressive seven-and-three-quarter length winner of the Attijari Al Islami Trophy. This Dubai veteran has now won three times, all on the Nad Al Sheba Dirt.
Bred by Taker Bloodstock, he is the first foal of Nashwan mare Embrace Me and a relative of notable scorers Molesnes, Cherokee Rose and fellow recent Dubai winner, Kirklees.
Singspiel stands at Dalham Hall for £15,000 Oct, 1st SLF
