Shamardal recorded a new Black Type winner on Tuesday, 24 April when his three-year-old daughter Shamtee landed the nine-furlong Listed Prix Finlande at Longchamp.
Never too far from the pace, Shamtee travelled well throughout and came with a late run to get up close to home and win by a head. Fellow Shamardal filly Lunch Lady finished just half a length further back in third.
Now unbeaten in two starts this year, Shamtee was bred by SF Bloodstock LLC and is out of the Dubai Destination mare Truth Beauty, a full sister to Stakes winner Parthenon and a half-sister to Magna Graecia, herself granddam of G1 Prix Jean Prat winner and young Darley stallion Territories. They are also from the family of Dawn Approach’s latest Stakes winner and Irish 1,000 Guineas hopeful Mary Tudor.
Shamardal is sire of 18 G1 winners to date, and will aim to add another to his record this weekend when Blue Point lines up for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby in the valuable Chairman’s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong on Sunday.
