Shamardal’s great run continues
Rome was the scene of the latest juvenile Group winner by Shamardal when Duel scorched to a half-length victory in the 1800m Premio Guido Berardelli at Capannelle. The Halling colt Fairyhall took third.
Duel, who was bred by his owner Scuderia Incolinx from the Danehill mare River Hill, extends a real purple patch for his sire, who was also responsible for last weekend’s G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Casamento and Monday’s G3 Killavullan Stakes winner Dubai Prince.
Also this week, Shamardal had the second and third home in the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes at Newmarket, a Group Three runner-up on VRC Derby day at Flemington and his son Stunning View, a half-brother to the Irish Derby winner Desert King, was second in Sunday’s Listed Knockaire Stakes at Leopardstown.
Shamardal is the sire of 15 Group winners, four of which – Faint Perfume, Lope De Vega, Casamento and Captain Sonador – have won Group One races.
