Shamardal, whose first yearlings are selling this autumn, topped the SGA sale in Milan courtesy of a colt out of Rentless (Zafonic), who was knocked down for €280,000 (A$487,000) – the second highest price ever realised at the Italian sale.
Fellow Darley stallion Dubawi was responsible for the top-priced filly, when his first-crop daughter out of Windy Britain, a Listed-winning mare by Mark Of Esteem, sold for €130,000 (A$226,000). This was the third best price of the day with the three top lots all having been consigned by SARL srl.
Prior to the SGA sale, 15 Shamardal yearlings had been offered in Europe and America , with 11 selling for an average of £87,271 (A$192,750) and a top price of £257,352 (A$568,400). Dubawi had also had 11 sell for an average of £86,279 (A$190,559). His top-selling yearling to date fetched £294,117 A$649,600).
